Oral surgery treats disease and injuries around the mouth and can help solve many dental issues, including:

• Surgical extractions – Sometimes, a tooth is unable to be extracted by a general dentist. There are several reasons why this could be – the tooth is so broken there isn’t enough space to grip it with traditional extraction tools, the tooth is so fragile it may fracture during extraction, the tooth roots are too long or curved. No matter the reason for surgical extraction, our oral surgeons will ensure you are comfortable and prepared for your procedure.
• Dental implants – Dental implants are tiny screws that are implanted into the jawbone to serve as a tooth root to replace a missing tooth. Once the implant is inserted and fully healed, a fake tooth will be placed on the implant. Dental implants offer a highly durable and long-lasting way to replace missing teeth.

Sedation is used in dentistry to help patients feel as comfortable as possible during procedures. Sedation options range from local anesthesia for minor procedures to general anesthesia for extensive procedures. We also offer IV sedation for patients who may require a higher level of sedation but who still want to be conscious during their appointment.

We provide different sedation options, depending on your needs, including local anesthesia, IV sedation, and general anesthesia.

• Local anesthesia is the most common form of sedation and is used for minor procedures. We inject the numbing medication directly to the area where work is to be done. Patients remain conscious during their procedure. We may also use nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, in conjunction with the local anesthesia. Nitrous oxide is breathed in through a mask placed over the nose and helps the patient feel calm and relaxed.
• IV sedation offers a higher level of sedation while still allowing the patient to be conscious of their procedure. You will still be awake and able to follow commands but most likely won’t remember most of the procedure.
• General anesthesia is the strongest form of sedation and is only used for extensive procedures. It can also be used for patients who have severe dental anxiety, as well. Patients are “put to sleep,” so they are unconscious during the procedure
